1900 - Peter Rutland, now a Mayjor in the Royal Artillery,
is posted to Cape Province in the early part of 1900 to trial a new type of gun under battle field conditions against the
Boers.
He finds this campaign completely different from any other action he has been in before, and he
is unsure about the validity of the reasons for fighting these farmers. His family relationships turn this campaign into a
personal civil war for him.
Rutland's Guns gives an insite into the lives of Gunners during the Boer
War in South Africa , and vividly paints the picture of action in a beautiful but unforgiving country.
